Amanda is an Associate in our family team.

An expert in both financial and private law children matters, she advises individuals and families on divorce and dissolution proceedings and associated financial claims, including the division of matrimonial assets, spousal maintenance and pension sharing.

She also works with separated unmarried couples in resolving property claims or disputes that have arisen following a relationship breakdown and advises on wealth protection matters like pre- and post-nuptial agreements and cohabitation agreements.

Amanda further helps clients to agree on long-term future care arrangements for their children or — where this can’t be agreed — pursue a Child Arrangements Order through the Family Court. She also advises on child relocation disputes. While she always tries to reach agreement swiftly, amicably and by consent without the need for contested court proceedings, Amanda is experienced in representing clients in contested financial remedy and children proceedings.

Often, Amanda’s clients are vulnerable individuals going through one of the biggest and most stressful life events — a separation. That’s why she explains legal matters plainly and concisely — breaking down any legal jargon — and follows up with clear, written advice and practical next steps.

Amanda has worked in family law since 2001. She qualified as a Chartered Legal Executive in 2018 and was promoted to Associate in 2023. Having started her legal career as a secretary in the family law department of a Blackpool-based law firm at just 17 years of age before progressing to work as a Paralegal, Amanda began her CILEx studies 13 years later — studying part-time while continuing to work full-time. She worked at three Lancashire-based law firms before joining our Lancashire office in July 2022.

Amanda has gained qualification in HR Management and is an Associate member of the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development. She also joined the Board of Trustees of One Fylde — a charity that provides person-centred support, accommodation and engaging activities for adults and young people with learning disabilities and autism across Blackpool, Fylde and Wyre — in July 2023 and offers her time to the charity on a pro-bono basis.

In July 2024, she joined Resolution’s national EDI committee, which was formed to create greater diversity and inclusivity across the Resolution community.

Thank you for all you have done for me over the past few months. I didn’t know what to expect when I first came to your office. I was in a bad way mentally and emotionally. After our first meeting I thought that I could work with you and trust you to help me get through the mess I found myself in. Having never been divorced before, you guided me through the process with great professionalism, courtesy, understanding and respect. You answered all my questions and were always available. Now that the process is complete, I feel confident that I did the right thing and am thankful for your guidance. I would recommend you to anyone in need of your service.

I am really happy with the outcome and glad that me and the boys can finally put this behind us and move on in life with a structured approach to seeing their mum. I would like to take this opportunity to thank you and the Brabners team. I would recommend your professional services to anyone.

Client feedback

Amanda Long has looked after my interests with regards to my recent divorce. I can honestly say that I'm very satisfied with the way it was dealt with. I was kept well informed throughout the whole process and all actions were itemised and costed. I consider that it was dealt with efficiently and costs were kept to a minimum.
