Joe is an Associate in our family team.
He handles all aspects of family law, including disputes regarding children, fertility law, divorce and associated financial matters. He specialises in private children litigation, including ‘residence’ and ‘contact’ disputes (child arrangements).
Joe acts in complex cases relating to welfare issues (domestic abuse, parental alienation, controlling & coercive behaviour and addiction etc.); international issues (applications to permit, or prohibit, removal of children from the jurisdiction); relocation within England and Wales as well as cultural and religious factors, particularly within the Jewish community.
He also deals with fertility law, advising surrogates and intended parents regarding surrogacy arrangements and representing intended parents seeking Parental Orders following this. He advises on legal considerations for donor conception, co-parenting or other ‘modern’ family arrangements.
Joe has a solid background in financial disputes on divorce, involving negotiations, contentious Court proceedings and alternative dispute resolution. He has acted on cases involving business assets, disclosure issues and complex legal arguments, for example that a party’s conduct requires consideration within a financial settlement.
Joe is a member of Resolution and sits on its Wellbeing Committee. He also sits on the committee for Family Law Reform Now, which focuses on Family Justice reform.
Joe joined us in January 2023 and is based in our Manchester office.
