Thorrun is a Solicitor in our regulatory and professional conduct team.

A practising pharmacist and former chair of the English Pharmacy Board of the Royal Pharmaceutical Society, Thorrun is a recognised and trusted figure in the pharmaceutical sector with first-hand experience of operating in a challenging environment while striving to provide excellent care to patients.

Her deep insights into the practical challenges and pressures that regulated professionals face provide expertise in fitness to practise matters, registration and restoration applications and appeals on behalf of a wide range of healthcare professionals.

A trusted national commentator on health issues, Thorrun regularly appears on the BBC, Sky, ITV, Talk TV and Times Radio, as well as in print. She regularly provides healthcare expertise on BBC Breakfast offering advice to viewers and commenting on healthcare trends.

Thorrun’s clients value her pragmatic and practical approach. She helps to make legal jargon understandable and provides advice in a digestible format for busy professionals.

Prior to joining us, Thorrun worked for another national law firm where she specialised in healthcare advisory and medical negligence disputes involving NHS Trusts and social care organisations. Thorrun was also part of the team that worked on the Manchester Arena Inquiry, established by the then Home Secretary in 2019.

Thorrun was named ‘Young Pharmacist of the Year’ by Pharmacy Business Magazine in 2018 in recognition of her advocacy for healthcare professionals and awarded a ‘Pharmacy Champion’ Award by Greater Manchester Local Practice Network. She is also a member of the Junior Solicitors Network advisory committee which advises the Law Society on how to support junior solicitors.

Thorrun studied pharmacy at King’s College London — completing her pharmacy pre-registration and training in community pharmacy — and studied for a Graduate Diploma in Law full-time while working as a pharmacist. She subsequently studied for her Legal Practice Course and MSc in Law, Business and Management, attaining a distinction.

Thorrun joined us in May 2024 and is based in our Manchester office.

Thorrun Govind has appeared before me on a number of occasions in various inquests. The most recent was a medical death with multiple clinical inputs over a considerable period of time, with multiple possible causation avenues to explore. During the course of the inquest, Ms Govind demonstrated a thorough understanding of her witness’ evidence, how these related to the overall clinical picture and a thorough knowledge of where the relevant entries were in the medical records to support her witnesses. From the interaction in court between Ms Govind and her client, it was clear that there was a good working relationship and the witnesses understood their role and the inquest process. Ms Govind demonstrated a clear understanding of the scope of an inquest, the points that the clinicians needed to convey to the Court and how these should be most appropriately addressed in response to questions raised by the family’s advocate.
