Access to capital is an issue that most businesses will face at some point during their lifecycle. A fundraise could be the fast track your business needs to achieve organic growth.
Our Deal Advisory team works with you to determine the appropriate form and level of capital required for your business — whether debt or equity — by reviewing its current status and growth aspirations.
We’ll critically appraise your business at outset to test that its goals are aligned with those of its shareholders and understand where the business is on its trajectory. Our experts can then assess what guidance and support is required to help improve performance. We’ll unpick your strategy to understand the core reasons for the fundraise to ensure that it’s best aligned to achieving your objectives.
We have long-standing relationships with banks, alternative debt providers, asset-backed lenders and private equity houses across the North West of England and nationwide.
Extensive network of investors
A fundraise could include investment in a new premises, large capital expenditure or funding the expansion of new product ranges. An injection of external capital will provide the platform to accelerate future growth and help to build value in your business when it can no longer rely on internal resources.
Our Deal Advisory team is led by experienced financial professional Paula McGrath, who entered corporate finance in 1995 and has developed an extensive network of investors.
Our services include:
- Examining all aspects of the business, sales, margins, growth, working capital, management strength, market position and more — challenging assumptions where necessary.
- Devising a funding structure to match your mid- and long-term business plans.
- Producing funding documents and detailed financial model.
- Addressing any gaps in your management team.
- Researching and making introductions to the right funders with the best fit.
- Negotiating deal terms for your company and management team.
- Assisting with sensitivity analysis and covenant setting.
- Working with your chosen lawyers to ensure legal documents reflect the commercial intent of the deal.
- Managing the project (and all parties) through to successful completion.

How does the fundraising process work?
Typically, we’ll conduct an introductory meeting to understand you and your business, as well as your ambitions for growth, why you need the finance and your risk appetite.
We’ll then carry out a review of your historic and forecast financial information to build a basic appraisal model to demonstrate the most suitable funding. We’ll walk you through the different types of funding and explain the differences.
We can subsequently discuss the business on a high level, no-name basis with a small group of funders to gauge their interest. If the outcome is successful, we’ll build a fully integrated financial model and write a funding document to showcase the opportunity in the best light for sharing with funders.
The key to this process is to recognise when funding will be required and plan enough time to fundraise. We often find that businesses make contact with us when there are only a matter of weeks remaining. In reality, the debt and equity process typically takes between three and six months.
